Community Grants

The Coorong District Council provides rounds of funding through its Community Events, Grants and Donations program. This presents an opportunity for individuals, community groups and sporting organisations to gain funding to make projects and ideas become a reality!

Council is committed to supporting local initiatives that provide opportunities for the community to access and participate in a wide range of projects.

Grants are provided to encourage groups and individuals to take a more active and visible role in creating opportunities for community participation and wellbeing.

Council offers two rounds of community grant funding per year (September and March). Grants up to $5,000 are available to assist organisations in the following categories:

  • Community
  • Recreation & Sports and;
  • Arts & Culture

Applications for Round One 2019/20 will open in September 2019.

Festivals and Events Grants – Open all year

Grants up to $2,000 available to support community organisations with the planning and delivery of local community events that assist in building community capacity and/or provide an economic return to the district.

Quick Response Grants Program – Open all year

Grants up to $1,000 available to assist community groups to commit to time sensitive programs/activities that would otherwise not be able to be pursued.

The need must be time sensitive in nature and requires assessment outside of the normal Community Grants Program timeline.

Individual Sport & Cultural Grants - OPEN

Council appreciates that there are significant cost implications for families whose children wished to pursue sporting or cultural activities at an elite level and that from time to time some financial assistance is required to enable further development of these opportunities. The funding program is available to Coorong Council residents who are under 18 years of age, still attending school and are representing South Australia at State, National or International level in their chosen field.

Community Group Loans - Open all year

Council values and recognises the role of community and sporting group within the council area and endeavours to support them in a variety of ways. The objective of loans is to provide a funding support mechanism for projects, both significant and minor, that have community benefit.
