The 2016 Census statistics are currently being released in batches by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.  Council encourages people to watch the releases on the ABS website and use the Quick Stats search function.  Please also note that the Tourism & Economic Development Plan is currently in the process of being updated.

The Tailem Bend Solar Farm Project

A 100-megawatt solar power facility will be established at Tailem Bend on land between this township and The Bend Motorsport Park utilising the existing substation infrastructure.  The project is being facilitated by Equis Australia for Snowy Hydro’s retail business arm (Lumo Energy), and is expected to commence construction in mid-May 2017.

The Bend Motorsport Park 

The Bend Motorsport Park is a major sporting venue and industrial complex that is being developed by Peregrine Corporation on the southern fringe of the Tailem Bend township.  For more information please go to http://www.thebend.com.au/ or follow their facebook page.

 

Regional Development Australia Murraylands & Riverland

The RDA Murraylands and Riverland Inc was formed in February 2010 as an amalgamation of the former Murraylands Regional Development Board (MRDB) and Riverland Development Corporation (RDC).  The RDA M&R provides services across four key business areas: Economic DevelopmentBusiness Development, Workforce Development and Tourism Development.  From these platforms, RDA M&R provides:

  • investment inquiry services
  • regional economic and demographic information
  • identification of development opportunities
  • infrastructure planning to support regional industry growth
  • marketing and promotion of the regions location, identity and strengths
  • liaison with regional business and industry groups
  • small business support
  • regional workforce development planning

The Coorong District Council contributes funding to the RDAM&R to provide services to its community as well as prospective businesses.
