Tintinara Apex Park Revitalisation – Stage 1
Background
Following the Coorong District Council’s Streetscapes Master planning project in 2023, Council has been actively attracting potential funding to deliver the community's vision for their main streets in a logical, coordinated, and staged fashion.
The Streetscapes Masterplan was endorsed by Council in December 2023 and designed as a tool to guide Council in the future decision-making for the main streets in Tailem Bend, Tintinara, and Coonalpyn. The plan identifies opportunities for improving the quality and enjoyment of these spaces including their features such as paths, access, lighting, public toilets, playgrounds, car parks, fences, furniture, signage, and more.
The Streetscapes Masterplan highlights the following priorities at the Tintinara Apex Park area:
- Upgrade and consolidate the rest area with shelter, amenities, and play space
- Remove multiple driveways and crossovers
- Consolidate carparking with Recreational Vehicle (RV) parking
- Improve pedestrian connectivity between Tintinara north and south, to gain access through the core of the park allowing better connectivity with the local school and local businesses
- Provide a formal connection to and from the new ARTC rail crossing and link with pedestrian crossing over Dukes Hwy and Becker Tce

Tintinara Apex Park Revitalisation – Stage 1
This first stage of works will be funded by $150,000 received from the Local Roads & Community Infrastructure Program for improvements at the Tintinara Apex Park in the 2024/25 financial year.
In the coming months Council has committed to improving pedestrian safety between the North and South sides of Tintinara as highlighted from the feedback received during the Streetscape Masterplan project. A new 1.8m high spearhead fence and 2.5m wide asphalt footpath will be installed adjacent to the railway corridor from the Apex Park to the Fulwood Avenue rail crossing, in addition a 1.2m high flat top playground fence will be installed to enclose the Tintinara Apex Park.
The remaining funds will be utilised to make some additional improvements to the park which could include replacing some of the park benches, BBQs and shelters, installing a path through the park to join up to the newly installed path along the railway corridor (see concept plans) and revitalising the area surrounding within the park.
Conceptual drawings have been developed and form a basis on which these thoughts and ideas can inspire community aspirations.
Community is invited to view the concept plans online or at a Council Customer Service office and provide their input and feedback into the revitalisation project through a written submission. These ideas will help Council to prioritise and guide the direction of the final plans.

Future Stages
There is opportunity for further transformation of the park in the future with a staged approach, including new pedestrian crossing points across the Dukes Highway to Becker Terrace, new public toilets, new playground, new or replacement barbeque facilities and shelters and further landscaping. These elements will be considered as funding opportunities present.
