Following a robust recruitment process, Coorong District Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Reardon as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Scott will come to Coorong with sound knowledge of the region following a period as CEO at neighbouring council, the District Council of Karoonda East Murray.

Having previously held acting CEO roles at the District Council of Coober Pedy and Town of Walkerville, as well as senior positions at the Town of Walkerville and City of Holdfast Bay, Scott brings a wealth of knowledge and achievements within the local government sector.

Scott’s strengths lie in the areas of governance and compliance, strategic planning, public policy and administration, and property management and development.

Coorong District Council’s Acting Mayor Cr. Jonathan Pietzsch said the Council was delighted to secure an experienced and highly regarded leader to guide the organisation into its next chapter.

“On behalf of the elected members and the wider Coorong community, I am pleased to welcome Scott to the Coorong District Council,” Cr. Pietzsch said.

“The recruitment process attracted a strong and diverse field of candidates, and Scott stood out through his demonstrated leadership, strategic vision and commitment to delivering positive outcomes for our community.”

“We are confident that Scott will work closely and collaboratively with our elected members, staff and residents to build on the many strengths of our district, while recognising the unique challenges that face our rural communities."

Scott is looking forward to commencing at Coorong District Council in the coming months.

“I am excited to be joining the Coorong District Council and becoming part of a region that offers tremendous opportunities for growth, innovation and community development,” Mr Reardon said.

“I am a people-focused leader and believe the best outcomes are achieved through engagement and collaboration.”

“By listening to our communities and fostering strong partnerships, I see opportunity to build on the district’s many strengths, create opportunities for sustainable growth, and ensure Council continues to deliver outcomes that matter to the community.”

“Economic development will be a key focus area for the district moving forward. I’m looking forward to working closely with Council, staff, residents and local businesses to facilitate further development of the district’s thriving communities where people choose to live, work, visit and invest.”

The Council’s Acting Mayor also thanked Interim CEO, Myles Somers, for his leadership and guidance of the organisation over the past six months while the recruitment of a new CEO has been underway.

"I would like to acknowledge and thank Myles Somers for his leadership and commitment while serving as Interim CEO – his professionalism, support of staff and focus on delivering Council's priorities have been instrumental in ensuring a seamless and stable transition period,” Cr. Pietzsch said.

The appointment marks a notable milestone for the Council as it continues to focus on sustainable growth, strong governance, community wellbeing and the delivery of key strategic initiatives across the district.
