Enrolment is now open
Those interested in joining Council as an elected member or Mayor, or wishing to vote must be enrolled on either the State Electoral roll (House of Assembly roll) at an address within the Coorong District Council or on the council supplementary roll.
If you are already on the State Electoral roll, you will automatically receive a voting pack mailed to your registered address. If you have moved house or changed your name, you need to complete a new enrolment form, available at your local Post Office or update your details on the Electoral Commission SA (ECSA) website. If you are unsure, you can also check your enrolment details on ECSA.
Enrolment for the 2027 council elections closes at 5pm on Monday 4 January 2027.
Enrolling on the council supplementary roll
To vote in council elections, you need to be enrolled on the South Australian electoral roll. If you’re eligible, you can also apply to be added to your council’s voters roll.
You may be eligible if any of the following apply:
- you are a non-resident sole owner or occupier of a property
- you are a landlord for rateable property
- you are an organisation/business that owns or occupies a property
- you are a group of owners or occupiers of property.
Businesses and organisations can also vote in council elections and must register on their council's voters roll.
If you are a business, organisation, property owner, you will need to re-enrol to vote each year of an election. This is because councils must purge the roll on 1 January of every election year.
If you have been removed from the roll under these provisions re-enrolment is required before 5pm on Monday 4 January 2026.
Complete Form 1 if you are enrolled on the House of Assembly Roll in South Australia and claim enroment as a:
Non-resident Sole Owner
A sole owner is a person who:
- owns property in the Council; and
- is the ownly owner of the relevant property; and
- does not live in the property (a non-resident owner)
OR
Non-resident Sole Occupier
A sole occupier is a person who:
- occupies property in the Council area as a tenant; and
- does not live in that property (a non resident occupier).

Complete Form 2 to enrol as a business or organisation (i.e. body corporate) which is either:
A Sole Owner
A body corporate sole owner is an individual business, organisation or community corporation that owns any type of rateable property in the Council area.
OR
A Sole Occupier
A body corporate sole occupier is an individual business or organisation that occupies any type of rateable property in the Council area as a tenant.
A designated person is required to vote on behalf of the body corporate.
Enrolment closes at 5pm on Monday 4 January 2027.
Complete Form 3 where a property is owned by more than one owner (i.e. a group owner) or occupied by more than one occupier/tenant (i.e. a group occupier).
Group Owner
When a rateable property is owned by more than one owner the right to vote belongs to the group of owners (group owner) not to each member of the group. The individuals who make up the group owner can be:
- businesses or organisations (bodies corporate); or
- individual people (natural persons); or
- a combination of businesses, organisations and people (bodies corporate and natural persons).
OR
Group Occupier
When a rateable property is occupied by more than one occupier/tenant the right to vote belongs to the group of occupiers/tenants (group occupier) and not to each member of the group. Individual members who make up the group occupier can be:
- businesses or organisations (bodies corporate); or
- individual people (natural persons); or
- a combination of businesses, organisations and people (bodies corporate and natural persons).
A designated person is required to vote on behalf of the group.
