The Coorong District is more than just a place, it’s rural communities are built on connection, strength and the shared aspirations of the people who live, work and play here.
The Community Vision Plan 2026–2030 was adopted by Council on 21 April 2026. It is a strategic roadmap that will guide our decisions, budgets, and projects over the next four years, which has been shaped by the voices of those who live, work and contribute to our region.

The four-year Plan will continue to focus on the key themes of Community, Economy, Environment, Infrastructure and Leadership, with practical and achievable actions included that reflect aspirations expressed by residents.
Coorong District Council prepares strategic management plans to:
- help set a clear vision and objectives for the district, in consultation with the community, and builds a framework on how it will work towards these;
- address issues of importance for Coorong District Council;
- manage its resources, people and assets in a sustainable way;
- align its efforts with the vision of South Australian and Australian Governments.
Requirements for strategic management plans are pursuant to Section 122 of the Local Government Act 1999.
Developing the Community Vision Plan 2026-2030
The Plan has been developed following an extensive community engagement process, with 575 community members contributing more than 5,000 ideas, thoughts and aspirations in late 2025. The feedback has helped to drive the Plan’s priorities, focus areas and strategies.
Community members were encouraged to review the draft Plan and provide feedback by attending a community drop in session, completing an online submission form, or lodging written submissions by mail or in person.
