Contractor Corporate Induction for Approved Contractors
Welcome to Coorong District Council’s Approved Contractor Registration and Corporate WHS Induction. The completion of these documents and the online induction forms part of the process to register and become an Approved Contractor with Council, this process is separate and Approved Contractors will also have site induction/s.
If you are an existing contractor, welcome back! Council requires its contractors to complete an online corporate induction every three (3) years. Contractors who want to remain on our Approved Contractors Register must supply current insurances, registration and/or licences as they expire (or as requested by Council) if these are not maintained Council may remove you from the Approved Contractor Register and Staff will not be able to engage you until you provide the relevant certificates of currency. Approve contactors will be required to supply Coorong District Council with any relevant or requested safe systems of work which may include JSAs, SWMS or safety plans etc.
In accordance with the Work Health Safety (WHS) Act 2012, Council has a legal responsibility to achieve a high level of proactive work health and safety management during the application of contracts and managing contractors. To facilitate this, Council has a contractor management system which provides for the selection of contractors with appropriate safety controls, the exchange of information between Council and its contractors to facilitate the identification and control of hazards, risk management, and the appropriate monitoring of the contractors engaged by Council.
Coorong District Council recognises its shared duty to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable:
- The health and safety of Contractors and workers engaged, or caused to be engaged by Council while undertaking works for Council.
- Eliminate risks to health and safety and if it is not reasonably practicable to eliminate risks to health and safety, to minimise those risks and to communicate those risks to our contractors.
- Consult, cooperate, and coordinate activities with other persons who have a duty in relation to the same matter.
The online corporate induction process takes approximately 30 minutes and is a mandatory requirement for any employee, subcontractor or personnel who may be working on a Council work site.
All contractor and sub-contractor employees must also read and understood all relevant Council WHS Policies and procedures, Work Health Safety and Return to Work Policy WHS 01 and follow any procedure as per site induction.
