Coorong Growth Strategy
The Coorong Growth Strategy was identified as a key action in Council's Community Vision Plan 2021-2025. The Strategy provides guidance and direction to support orderly and sustainable population growth for the district and its main towns.
Prepared during 2022 following community engagement and endorsed by Council in December 2022, the Coorong Growth Strategy considers existing supply and demand for housing, constraints and opportunities for development and highlights areas for investment and further research.
The Coorong Growth Strategy identifies three growth scenarios for the towns of Tailem Bend, Coonalpyn, Tintinara, Meningie and Wellington East and the volume of population and residential land required to achieve desired levels of growth. This is readily extrapolated to land supply goals, and can be used by developers to assist in determining levels and timing of development investment. Importantly, this information also guides Council infrastructure development and future investment.
