Coorong Citizen of The Year Award Nominations Now Open
Nominations are now open for the 2025 Citizen of the Year Awards within the Coorong Council district. It’s time to celebrate and recognise our home-grown heroes!
2025 nominations are now welcome from all areas across the district.
Australia Day Award nomination categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year, and Community Project of the Year.
Individuals need only be nominated once to be considered for an award, and the number of nominations received per nominee bears no weight in their selection.
Selection criteria includes:
Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year: significant contribution to the community, an inspirational role model and the scope or impact of their contribution to the Coorong district.
Community Event of the Year: presented to an individual or group responsible for staging the district’s most outstanding community event of the year.
Community Project of the Year: presented to the individual or group responsible for the district’s most outstanding community project of the year.
Residents are encouraged to nominate their outstanding achievers and share the achievements of these special individuals.
Heather Wait from Jabuk, Sandy Przibillia from Tailem Bend and Meningie’s Malcolm Day were all awarded Citizen of the Year in 2024 for their long-standing commitment to their respective communities.
The district’s Suicide Prevention Network – Coorong Conversations Matter was recognised as Community Project of the Year for their community-driven Sunflower project.
The Mayor’s Award was presented to the Tailem Bend Rotary Club in recognition of 40 years of the Tailem Bend Music Hall recognising the impact this long running event has had on many members of the community.
If you know of a community group or an individual who should have their outstanding achievements celebrated, please consider nominating them for the 2025 Citizen of the Year Awards.
Nomination forms are available from any Council office or can be downloaded from Coorong District Council’s website: www.coorong.sa.gov.au/citizenoftheyearawards
Nominations close at 5:00pm on Friday, 25 October 2024.
