Coorong community groups can now apply for up to $5,000 in funding to support local projects and events through the latest round of Coorong District Council’s Community Grants Program.

Mayor Paul Simmons is encouraging local groups to make the most of this opportunity for their planned projects and events.

“Our community groups and sporting clubs continue to deliver projects that make the Coorong a great place to live, work and play. We’re proud to support their efforts so they can keep growing and thriving,” Mayor Simmons said.

“In the last grant round, community grant funding helped bring projects to life such as raised garden beds, event equipment, a mobile electronic scoreboard, and window upgrades at a local sporting club.

“Council is particularly encouraging applications for projects or events that promote inclusivity, encourage wide participation, build community pride, or stimulate local economic activity.”

Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are now available to groups involved in sport and recreation, cultural activities, community development, and social or welfare initiatives.

Funding is offered across three categories: Small Community Grants, Community Event Grants, and Community Project Grants.

Applicants can apply online or find further information on the Council’s website (coorong.sa.gov.au/communitygrants). Council’s Community Development Team is also available to discuss project or event ideas with applicants by phone (1300 785 277) or email council@coorong.sa.gov.au.
