Coorong community groups can now apply for up to $5,000 in funding to help deliver projects and events through the latest round of Coorong District Council’s Community Grants program.

Mayor Paul Simmons is pleased to invite groups to apply through the first round of community grants for 2022-23.

“Our local community groups provide valuable social and economic benefits to our communities, and we want to continue to support their efforts,” says Mayor Simmons.

“In the most recent round, the Council’s community grants program funded new football goal nets, BBQ and cooking facilities upgrades, community gym improvements, and events funding for the annual Tintinara Lions Wool Show and Auction – all of these activities provide direct benefit back our communities.”

Community groups involved in local sport and recreation, cultural, community development, and social and welfare activities may be eligible to apply for grants between $1,000 and $5,000 in one of three categories; Small Community Grants, Community Event Grants, and Community Project Grants.

Groups are encouraged to consider submitting applications for community projects or events that are inclusive, encourage wide participation, create a sense of community pride or stimulate economic growth.

Applications close at 5:00pm on Friday, 22 July 2022. Applicants can apply online or download the application package and find more information on Council’s website.

Council’s Community Development Team is also available to discuss project or event ideas with applicants by phoning 1300 785 277 or emailing council@coorong.sa.gov.au.
