Coorong Conversations Matter Put the Spotlight on Mental Health
An Evening with Nathan Bolton - Wednesday 7 April at the Rydges Pit Lane Hotel
Coorong District Council and the region’s Suicide Prevention Network are shining the spotlight on mental health as they seek to raise awareness in tackling the serious issues of suicide and mental health.
Coorong District Council’s Mayor Paul Simmons is inviting community members to join him for an evening at the Rydges Hotel, The Bend Motorsport Park, with special guest Nathan Bolton at the Coorong Conversations Matter Suicide Prevention Network Community Forum on Wednesday 7 April 2021.
Guests will be encouraged to start thinking about mental health differently and open up discussions around managing mental health challenges and supporting our mates.
Special guest Nathan Bolton, a former Special Operations Engineer who has deployed twice to Afghanistan with Australia’s Special Forces will share his own battle with mental ill health.
Nathan’s job took a heavy toll, and after his tours he was diagnosed with PTSD and Major Depression; an inner battle that almost took his life. The soldier in him kept fighting and after years of hard work and a firm belief in a better life, Nathan made a profound recovery.
In its wake, Nathan and his brother Daniel established Bolton Brothers, a psychology company committed to changing the face of male mental health.
Through a gendered approach, their goal is to educate, inspire and empower men to increase mental health awareness, improve mental health literacy and to find the courage to seek psychological support during times of need. Nathan devotes his energy to passing on the experiences he went though, the mistakes he made, and more importantly, the lessons he learned along the way to educate, mitigate and attempt to prevent others walking down the same path as he did.
Nathan currently sits on the SA Premier’s Council on Suicide Prevention, Wellbeing SA Community Advisory Committee for Mental Health and is the State Representative of the Special Operations Engineers Regiment Welfare Association.
He does what he can to help make a better tomorrow.
Tickets to this FREE event are available by contacting Tanya Malins on 0466 544 593 or by emailing tanya.malins@sa.gov.au, or register online through trybooking.com.
