Coorong District Local Action Plan Strategic Vision 2023-2028
The Coorong Tatiara Local Action Plan partnership working under the Coorong and Tatiara District Councils has successfully delivered on-ground change and community engagement across the Upper South East over the past 28 years.
During this time Government and Industry significant investment has been attracted for environmental and sustainable agricultural projects. This has produced positive on-ground and community outcomes of relevance for the region’s local primary producers, community groups, schools, and public land managers.
Coorong District Council is now pleased to launch the Coorong District Local Action Plan’s Strategic Vision 2023-2028. This vision has been developed by the Coorong District Local Action Plan Committee with funding support from the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board.
The vision has been identified to build prosperity through sustainability and four broad goals have been set to achieve this:
- Sustainable, profitable agriculture
- Terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity for future generations
- Water resources and water balance understood and respected
- Strengthening our network and community
Working with the district’s land managers, this framework provides direction for Coorong District Council and the Coorong Tatiara Local Action Plan to meet and achieve balanced, effective outcomes for our environment and agricultural community.
This plan reflects the long-term vision and considers the likely impacts of climate variability on current and planned activities, whilst applying principles of sustainability and adaption in decision making.
The Coorong District Council’s Local Action Plan Strategic Vision 2023-2028 sets the direction for the Local Action Plan program over the next five years.
This is a ‘living’ document with a robust framework capable of future updates, changes or adjustments that can be amended to align more closely with evolving innovations in a rapidly changing environment.
Coorong District Council’s Mayor Paul Simmons is pleased to present this document to the community and stakeholders.
“I congratulate all involved, especially our reinvigorated Coorong District Local Action Plan Committee, in developing this guiding vision for the next five years of land management across our district,” says Mayor Paul Simmons.
“Thank you to everyone who contributed to this Strategic Vision document.”
