Expressions of Interest to be Considered for Wadmore House Precinct

Media Release

Coorong District Council is welcoming Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the potential lease or purchase of the much‑loved Wadmore House precinct in Meningie. The Council is inviting formal proposals from community groups, sporting clubs, not‑for‑profit organisations and commercial interests who may have a vision for the site’s next chapter.

The Wadmore House precinct, located at 78A Princes Highway and comprising three titles (Lots 50, 51 and 52), has been part of the local landscape for many years. Since the site became vacant in early 2019, the Council has listened to the community through engagement activities and open days, gathering ideas, hopes and aspirations for how the property might be used in the future.

With the State Government having recently removed a restrictive covenant over the property, the Council now has full flexibility to consider all options. Elected Members discussed the precinct’s future at a Council meeting held in late 2025, where the community value of the site and the importance of finding a sustainable long‑term outcome were highlighted.

The Council is undertaking an EOI process to explore a wide range of potential uses, including community and social activities, sport and recreation, or commercial ventures.

Expressions of Interest are now open and will be accepted until Friday, 27 February 2026.

To support interested parties, a public information session will be held on Thursday, 12 February 2026, from 5:30pm at the Meningie Bowling Club. This relaxed, informal session will provide an opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the process, and discuss ideas with Council staff.

The Wadmore House precinct will also be available for inspection throughout the EOI period. Those wishing to visit the site are encouraged to contact the Council to arrange a site visit.

Following the closure of the EOI period, all submissions will be reviewed and a report outlining the outcomes and recommended next steps will be prepared for the Council’s consideration.

For more information, please contact Council’s Property Officer, Justin O’Brien on 1300 785 277.
