Interim CEO and Deputy Mayor Appointed

Interim appointments were made at the Coorong District Council’s Ordinary meeting held on 16 December 2025 to temporarily fill the Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Mayor roles.

Since joining Coorong District Council as Chief Executive Officer in 2020, Bridget Mather has driven significant growth, innovation and transformation over her six years of leadership, leaving the organisation well-positioned for continued success.

The Council’s Director Community & Corporate, Myles Somers, will assume the role of interim Chief Executive Officer following the departure of Ms Mather from 20 January 2026.

“On behalf of Council, I extend our sincere thanks to Bridget for her leadership and commitment to the Coorong community. We’ve achieved a number of milestones in the past six years, and we wish her all the best with the next chapter to come,” says acting Mayor Cr. Jonathan Pietzsch.

The Council has also appointed an acting Deputy Mayor to support the acting Mayor while Mayor Paul Simmons continues to recover from a health issue. The Council unanimously supported the appointment of Cr. Lisa Rowntree to assist Cr. Pietzsch in carrying out the mayoral office duties until Mayor Simmons returns to the role.
