Nominations now open for 2027 Citizen of the Year Awards in the Coorong District
Do you know someone who goes above and beyond to make the Coorong district a better place?
Nominations are now open for Coorong District Council’s 2027 Citizen of the Year Awards, giving the community the opportunity to celebrate the people, groups, events and projects that help our towns thrive.
From dedicated volunteers and community leaders to inspiring young people, successful events and impactful local projects, the awards recognise the many ways individuals and organisations contribute to the wellbeing and vibrancy of the district.
Whether through education, health, fundraising, volunteering, business, sport, the arts, environmental initiatives or community service, these awards shine a spotlight on those whose efforts make a lasting difference.
Award categories include:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
- Community Project of the Year
The Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year awards recognise individuals who have made a significant contribution to the community, demonstrated exceptional leadership, inspired others or created a positive impact across the Coorong district.
The Community Event of the Year Award celebrates an outstanding event that has brought people together and enhanced community life, while the Community Project of the Year Award recognises a project that has delivered meaningful and lasting benefits to the district.
Importantly, a nominee only needs to be nominated once to be considered. The number of nominations received does not influence the outcome, meaning one thoughtful nomination is all it takes to acknowledge someone's contribution and achievements.
Behind every strong community are people whose dedication, generosity and leadership make a lasting difference. Now is your chance to ensure their efforts are recognised and celebrated.
Nominations close at 5pm on Wednesday, 28 October 2026.
Nomination forms are available from any Council office or can be downloaded from the Coorong District Council website: www.coorong.sa.gov.au/citizenoftheyearawards
