The community is being asked to review Coorong District Council’s draft Community Vision Plan 2021 – 2025, following its endorsement for community engagement at the January 2021 ordinary Council meeting.

The draft Plan is the result of a fantastic community effort; Council is thankful to the 251 community members who made submissions toward the development of the Plan.

The 2021-2025 Community Vision Plan will replace the Strategic Management Plan developed by Council in 2015 and will set a direction that reflects the community’s long-term visions, values, aspirations and priorities for the region.

The Community Vision Plan will:

• help set a clear vision and objectives for the district in consultation with the community, and builds a framework on how it will work towards these;
• address issues important to the community;
• address issues of importance for Council;
• manage the Council’s resources, people and assets in a sustainable way;
• align its efforts with the wider Council district and the vision of the South Australian and Australian governments.

Initial input provided by community members and organisations has now been collated and has assisted in developing a range of actions within the draft Plan that are structured around five themes and key priorities; Economy, Infrastructure, Community, Environment and Leadership.

Community engagement commenced Wednesday, 20 January 2021 and will conclude on Friday, 12 February 2021. Copies of the draft Plan and are available for inspection at each of Council’s customer service centres and on Council’s website.

Community members can review the draft Plan and provide feedback by attending a community workshop, completing an online submission form, or submitting suggestions by mail or in person.

Once feedback has been received the Plan will be finalised and presented at a Special Council meeting to be held on Tuesday, 23 February 2021 for endorsement.
