Tailem Bend Celebrating OTR SuperSprint with Street Party & Markets

Tailem Bend is gearing up to welcome back the Supercars to The Bend Motorsport Park next weekend with its very own Street Party and Coorong Country Markets on Thursday 6 May 2021.

With unfortunate weather events leading to last year’s Street Party being cancelled, Coorong District Council’s Mayor Paul Simmons looks forward to celebrating with the Coorong community and visitors at this year’s festivities.

The 2021 Tailem Bend Street Party will kick off at 4pm on Thursday 6 May and will have more than ever on offer to tempt car enthusiasts, families and visitors, with the Supercars jumping on board in addition to the vehicle displays, artisan and food stalls, and music and entertainment.

“We are delighted to host a Supercars Transporter Parade and Supercars Championship driver signing as part of the 2021 Tailem Bend Street Party and Coorong Country Markets”, says Mayor Simmons.

“The transporter parade and driver signing supported by the Supercars gives our own community a fantastic opportunity to join in and celebrate our region hosting a large-scale event in our own backyard.

“The OTR SuperSprint is a drawcard not only for The Bend Motorsport Park, but for our surrounding region and local businesses; we look forward to welcoming visitors over the course of the weekend.”

The 2021 Street Party will stay true to its racing roots and has much on offer:

• Supercars Transporter Parade through the main street of Tailem Bend
• Supercars Championship driver signing at the Tailem Bend Town Hall (please note that drivers will not be signing personal merchandise due to COVID requirements but will have pre-signed posters for fans to take)
• ‘The Speed Zone’ - displays of drifting, classic and vintage cars, motorbikes and machinery by the Tailem Bend Car Club and the Lower Murray Vintage Engine & Machinery Club, and racing ride-on lawnmower display
• Local arts and crafts at the pop-up Coorong Country Markets
• Entertainment by popular local band ‘ARkIVE’ plus roving musicians and entertainers
• Tasty fare and much, much more.

The convoy for the Supercars Transporter Parade will make its way from The Bend Motorsport Park along the Dukes Highway towards Tailem Bend, turning onto Tuscany Grove, then Big Olive Grove and along Golf Course Road, entering Tailem Bend via Railway Terrace and through to the Street Party. The transporters will turn onto Granites Road and then Princes Highway to return to The Bend.

To ensure everyone remains COVID-safe, in the event that Street Party patrons cannot socially distance while watching the transporter procession along the public road route, the wearing of face masks is recommended.

This free community event will be a COVID Safe event, and patrons are asked to book tickets online (https://www.trybooking.com/eventlist/coorongdistrictcouncil), or in person through the Coorong Civic Centre or Tailem Bend Post Office. Ticket holders are asked to carefully read the Terms and Conditions before booking.

EVENT DETAILS:

• The Tailem Bend 2021 Street Party will be held at Willow Street and Railway Terrace, Tailem Bend from 4:00pm on Thursday, 6 May 2021.
• This is a free community event, however tickets must be obtained online or at the gate to gain entry.
