Your Input, Your Plan - Help Shape Coorong's Future

The Coorong district is more than just a place – it’s a thriving community built on connection, resilience, and shared purpose. Now, it’s time to shape the next chapter together.

Coorong District Council is inviting all people who call this community home – in any way – to help develop its next Community Vision Plan 2026–2030 – a roadmap that will guide the Council’s decisions, budgets, and projects over the next four years.

Coorong District Council’s Mayor Paul Simmons strongly encourages Coorong residents to share their feedback.

“This is our residents’ chance to influence the future of our district. We want to hear your ideas, your concerns, and your aspirations. Together, we’ll build a plan that reflects our community’s values and ambitions,” says Mayor Paul Simmons.

“Let’s plan for a future where our community continues to thrive—where lifestyle, housing, jobs, and services meet the needs of all ages and stages of life.”

The current Community Vision Plan (2021–2025) sets a vision around community pride, thriving economically, and living in a valued environment. In setting the new plan, residents will be asked whether this vision still reflects who the district is and where it should go.

Whether it’s input about sustainability, infrastructure, services, culture, or growth – the voice of the community matters.

Why Now?

With an anticipated 2,449 new residents and 1,000 new homes by 2037, and broader regional growth expected to reach 28,000 new residents by 2051, planning for the future is more important than ever.

The Community Vision Plan will help ensure growth is well-managed and sustainable, enhancing liveability, strengthening local communities, and keeping infrastructure and services in step with future needs.

How to Get Involved

The Council will be engaging widely with its community over the coming months, with various community workshops planned in Meningie, Tintinara, Peake and Tailem Bend.
