Carpark Redevelopment - Railway Tce, Tailem Bend
Works Notice - Commencing 19 February 2026
The car park on Railway Tce in Tailem Bend (between the Station Master’s House & the RSL Memorial) is getting a facelift.
These upgrades will deliver improved drainage, safer pedestrian connections, a more efficient carpark layout, and enhanced visual amenity within the Railway Terrace precinct.
Works will begin on Thursday the 19th of February 2026 and are are expected to take approximately 5-6 weeks to complete (weather permitting).
Please note: During this time the carpark will be closed and temporary fencing will be installed around active work zone for public safety.
Tailem Bend ANZAC Day Service – Temporary Parking & DropโOff Zone
What you need to know:
- A ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝโ๐ผ๐ณ๐ณ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ will be available to help safely drop off passengers close to the service area (bus stop)
- ๐ฆ๐ต๐ผ๐ฟ๐โ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐บ ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐ด is available along Railway Tce, in the Tailem Info Station Car Park and along Murray St
- Additional parks will be reserved for those ๐๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐๐ needs

We thank the community for their patience and cooperation while these works continue, and we appreciate everyone’s understanding as we ensure the ANZAC Day service can proceed safely and respectfully.
Scope of Works
A copy of the project plan has been included with this letter for your information and works will include:
- Removal of sections of existing kerb, pavement, and spoon drains
- Construction of new kerb and water table, edge strips, and upgraded drainage connections
- Reconstruction of pavement areas, including new asphalt surfacing
- Installation of new concrete walk-through sections and footpath connections
- Installation of DDA-compliant pram ramps to improve pedestrian accessibility
- Reinstatement of garden bed areas around existing trees where pavement is removed
- Adjustment of the northern entrance, shifting it slightly further north rather than maintaining the existing straight-through alignment from Mallee Street
Public Safety
Traffic management will be in place throughout the works. Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to follow the signage and instructions of traffic control officers.
Please exercise caution when passing through the area as there will be personnel working nearby.
Temporary fencing will be installed around active work zones (highlighted in green on the image to the right) to ensure public safety.
During construction, access to parts of the carpark will be restricted. Community members are encouraged to use the southern carpark near the Railway Station and utilise available street parking.
Some construction activity may occur directly in front of nearby properties and businesses.
Access will be maintained where possible, with contractors available to assist residents or operators entering or exiting the area.
