Proposed fee for Narrung Campground

Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to introduce a $10 per site, per night camping fee at Narrung Campground.

Narrung Campground is currently free to use, with no formal booking or payment process. Council provides and maintains facilities at the campground including toilets, bins, water and covered seating.

What is being proposed?

Council is considering introducing:

  • a camping fee of $10 per site, per night
  • a booking system for Narrung Campground.

The proposed fee would contribute towards costs associated with establishing and operating a booking system, as well as the ongoing operation and maintenance of the campground.

No final decision has been made. Council is seeking community feedback on the proposal before considering whether to introduce the fee.

Why is Council considering this change?

Council has been investigating options for a booking and payment system for Narrung Campground.

Introducing a camping fee would create a user-pays approach and provide revenue to contribute towards:

  • establishing a booking system
  • ongoing booking platform and transaction fees
  • campground operation and maintenance costs.

The proposal follows consideration by Council’s Roads & Infrastructure Committee during 2025 and 2026.
