On Farm Connectivity Program - Round 1

Who is eligible

Primary producers in agriculture, forestry and/or fisheries.

Purpose

The objectives of the program are to:

  • Extend digital connectivity and enable Primary Producers to take advantage of advanced farming technology
  • Enhance a Primary Producer's ability to implement digital agribusiness solutions through improved connectivity
  • Capitalise on the agricultural sector's productivity and growth
  • Support access to new communications equipment and services by offsetting some of the cost.

Amount

Eligible equipment suppliers can claim a rebate of between $3,000 and $30,000 for the sale of eligible equipment, with primary producers accessing discounted prices. The rebate can be claimed for up to 50 per cent of the cost of the eligible equipment.

Application due

This is a demand driven grant opportunity. Rebates will be awarded to eligible applicants on a first come, first served basis in order of application receipt, until the funding is exhausted. $15 million is available to 30 June 2024, or until funding is exhausted, whichever occurs first.

Electronic identification (eID) for sheep and goats

Who is eligible

A rebate is available for sheep and goat producers who have purchased eligible eID tags between 1 January and 31 December 2023.

Purpose

South Australia will transition to eID in 2 stages:

  • Sheep and farmed goats born on or after 1 January 2025 will need to be identified with an NLIS accredited eID tag before leaving their property of birth
  • From 1 January 2027, all other sheep and farmed goats leaving a property will need to be identified with an NLIS accredited eID tag
  • The Government of South Australia has committed funding to support the first stage of eID for sheep and farmed goats.

Amount

This package will assist the transition through:

  • 50% discount up to a cap of $0.95 per eligible eID tag in 2023–24 and 2024–25 for lambs and kid
  • Support of 75% towards the cost of essential infrastructure required for implementing eID across the supply chain.

Applications for the eID device rebate (2023) will open on 5 October 2023, and close at 5 pm (ACST) on 30 April 2024.

Soil Carbon Innovation Challenge

Who is eligible

South Australian grain producers interested in their soil carbon.

Purpose

Up to 15 grain producers are being sought to undertake soil sampling post-harvest.

Amount

The project will cover the costs of this soil sampling and lab testing, which would normally be in the thousands of dollars.

River Murray Flood Primary Producer Recovery Grants

Who is eligible

You must be a primary producer businesses located within the affected local government council areas:

Alexandrina Council, Berri Barmera Council, Coorong District Council, District Council of Karoonda East Murray, District Council of Loxton Waikerie, Mid Murray Council, Pastoral Unincorporated Area, Renmark Paringa Council, Rural City of Murray Bridge.

Purpose

The objective of this grant is to support primary producers that have suffered direct loss or damage as a result of the 2022-23 River Murray Floods.

Grants are available for individual primary production businesses to assist with costs for clean-up and recovery and will cover expenditure incurred on or after 15 November 2022.

Amount

You can make up to 3 claims to support your grant for up to $75,000 (GST exclusive).

This is available as:

  • Funding up to $25,000 (tier 1)
  • A subsequent amount of up to $50,000 (tier 2).

River Murray Floods Primary Production Irrigation Grants

Who is eligible

You must be a primary producer businesses located within the affected local government council areas:

Purpose

This grant supports South Australian River Murray primary producers accessing River Murray water for primary production to meet costs associated with flood impacts to irrigation infrastructure and electricity supply as a result of the 2022 River Murray Floods.

The grant will assist with costs for relocating and re-establishing irrigation pumps and purchasing alternative power sources such as generators.

Amount

You can apply for funding of up to $25,000.

Who is eligible

Eligible first-time farmers wanting to buy, establish or develop their first farm OR eligible farmers and farm businesses who are planning for and implementing succession arrangements.

Purpose

To encourage and support people in obtaining their first farming business. To assist with farm business succession planning and giving effect to succession plans.

On-farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme

Who is eligible

Primary Producers.

Purpose

A rebate of up to 25 percent (to a maximum of $25,000 - GST exclusive) to primary producers for the costs associated with the purchase and installation of new on-farm water infrastructure, or to repair or replace damaged infrastructure for livestock and permanent horticulture that:

  • addresses animal welfare needs during drought
  • assists primary producers to be more resilient for future droughts
  • assists primary producers to be more resilient for future droughts by protecting high value horticultural assets
  • support primary producer recovery from Natural Disasters.

Amount

The Australian Government is providing a 12.5 per cent rebate (up to $12,500) matched by the Government of South Australia (up to $12,500) to be able to offer a rebate of up to 25 per cent (max $25,000 per primary producer).

Support Plantation Establishment 2024–25 (Round 2)

Who is eligible

See guidelines.

Purpose

Plantation Establishment Program (the program) will run over 4 years from 2023–24 to 2026–27. The funding will support the establishment of new long-rotation softwood and hardwood plantation forests and assist the sector to respond to the projected growth in demand for domestically sourced timber resources. Through focusing on long-rotation plantation forests , the program’s key intended outcomes are to increase domestic timber supply, particularly construction and manufacturing timber resources, and to contribute to Australia’s carbon emissions reduction commitments.

Amount

The Australian Government will provide funding of $2,000 (GST exclusive) per 1 hectare of new long-rotation plantation forest established.

The minimum grant amount is $40,000 (GST exclusive).

There is no maximum grant amount, provided grant funding is available.
