Pangarinda Botanic Garden - Future Vision Plan

Located at Wellington East, Pangarinda Botanic Garden offers an ideal location to take a stroll through Australian Native plant species from Australia’s lower rainfall regions.  Planted and nurtured by a group of dedicated volunteers over the past 30 years, Pangarinda is home to many different bird species and a favourite spot for birdwatchers.

The volunteers of Pangarinda Botanic Garden have committed time every week since 1993 to ensure our Australian Native Plants and other wildlife prosper and flourish.

Today, Pangarinda Botanic Garden attracts around 900 locals, visitors and tourists each month, and is becoming one of the district's most popular tourist attractions.

Coorong District Council would like to hear the community's thoughts on Pangarinda Botanic Garden's future.

Some workshopping has already taken place with key stakeholders, including current volunteers, staff and Council Members, and now we are seeking input from the community. To provide some examples, here are some ideas that have already been raised:

  • Make Pangarinda a lead conservator of Australian Native Plants.
  • Ways to attract volunteers.
  • Encourage people to make donations to Pangarinda so we can do more.

Residents, ratepayers and visitors to the district are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas, and consider what the future may look like for Pangarinda, and what we need to do to get there.

Community, visitors and residents were invited to complete a survey to let us know their thoughts about Pangarinda Botanic Garden and its future. Feedback closed on Friday, 18 August 2023.
