Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

The RAA is currently working with South Australian councils to extend their Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station network across the State.

Three EV charging stations have been proposed to be built at Meningie, Tailem Bend and Coonalpyn.

To enable the charging stations to be constructed, Coorong District Council is seeking feedback on the associated site leases and permit, and Community Land Management Plans.

Meningie EV Charging Site - Feedback Sought

A Tier 1 site is planned to be constructed in Meningie, which will include four charging bays (one will be a disabled parking bay) connected to an Ultra-rapid (200kW) charger (takes as little as 15 to 45 minutes to fully charge an EV).

Intention to Grant Lease

Coorong District Council is considering granting a lease to the Royal Automobile Association of South Australia (RAA) over a portion of parkland (former CFS site) located at Lot 343 Princes Hwy, Meningie (Crown Record 5306/508), for a period of twenty (20) years.

New Community Land Management Plan

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 197 of the Local Government Act 1999, and in accordance with Coroong District Council's Community Engagement Policy.

A new Community Land Management Plan (CLMP) has been developed for Parkland (Former CFS Site) at Meningie. A plan is required for any community land if, among other things, the land is, or is to be, occupied under a lease or licence agreement. To enable the possible leasing to the RAA for construction of an EV charging station, a management plan that allows leasing must be in place.

Have your say:

Written submissions on the proposed leases, permit and Community Land Management Plans associated with the EV charging stations at Meningie, Tailem Bend and Coonalpyn are now closed with a report to be presented to Council in summarising community feedback and enabling a final decision to be made.

The South Australian government has awarded a grant of $12.35 million to the RAA to construct and operate Australia's first statewide electric vehicle (EV) charging network. The grant is part of the government's investment in South Australia's electric vehicle transformation, securing private investment in the EV charging network.
